Friday evening, I was part of a private art exhibition at The Millennium Gate Museum in Atlanta. Why was that so great? Well, the art on display is that of Winston Churchill. History remembers him as a great leader and one of western civilization’s most admired statesmen. Did you know he was also a painter? The Atlanta exhibit includes more than 30 of Churchill’s paintings, as well as family mementos and photographs.Eighteen of the paintings have never appeared in public. Many have been exhibited very rarely. One painting included is from the Jolie-Pitt Collection. Yes, THAT Jolie-Pitt, as in Angelina and Brad.
Duncan Sandys, a Churchill great-grandson who now lives in Atlanta, assisted by lending many of his family’s Churchill paintings. Rodney Mims Cook, Jr., founder of the Millennium Gate Museum and a world renowned architect, developed and created the showing.
